Congratulatory messages are still pouring in for Kenyan gospel artiste Linet Munyali, known by her stage name Size 8 who was over the weekend ordained as a pastor. The ordination comes 8 years since the mother of two received Christ as her personal Lord and Savior, and quit secular music.
According to The Star Newspaper – Kenya, Size 8 will be serving as a minister at Jubilee Christian Church (JCC) Thika Town, located northeast of Nairobi.
In a social media post, Size 8 expressed joy over this new milestone, adding that many wrote her off when she received Christ, and never expected her to last a week in salvation.
“I’m so grateful to God for this great honour. By His grace, He has done it.”
“Sometimes, I have felt like giving up, but when I look back, I realise it is a must; I have to deny myself something to remain true to God,” she said. “The world keeps calling me, and saying no has been the main challenge. By His grace, I did not backslide,” she stated.
“I am excited and very emotional about this event since my life hasn’t been smooth. The devil has been fighting me but I have made it through. It’s a big thing for me and any servant of God,” she continued.
In April 2013, she released her first gospel single “Mateke,” about Jesus overpowering satan and his wicked ways. She later released other singles like “Moto”, “Yuko na Wewe”, “Jemedari” and “Afadhali Yesu”. Size 8 also got married to gospel DJ and producer Mo.
In another social media post about her ordination, Size 8 quoted Numbers 23:19, which says, “God is not human, that he should lie, not a human being, that he should change his mind. Does he speak and then not act? Does he promise and not fulfill?”
“He chooses whomever and changes them to serve Him,” she said.
“My life is like a movie from the secular world to an ordained servant of God. See God. God’s grace is real,” she went on. “I got born again in 2013 and started the Gospel music journey, five years later in 2018, I went to Bible school and graduated. Now 8 years later in 2021, am going to be ordained,” she added.
Size 8 further thanked her husband DJ Mo and her mentors for their roles in the new chapter of her life.
“To God be the glory only by His grace, His power and spirit through His son Jesus Christ has this happened. In God’s time he makes everything beautiful. To my husband @djmokenya thanks for allowing me to go serve God and to my Pastor and mentors Pastor Kelvin and Jacky Ephraim God bless you all.”
Speaking to Standard Entertainment in a previous interview about her decision to get saved, Size 8 said despite her fame in the secular industry, she had no peace of mind and wanted to transform her life and career.
“I have been born again for quite some time and my songs were in conflict with my faith. As much as I was making big cash and commanding a massive fan base, my heart was not at peace,” she said.
The pastor said that she was so committed to her cause that she even had to go back to her mother’s residence to seek counsel.
“The whole booty-shaking thing is now a thing of the past. I am doing everything for Jesus my Lord,” she said, adding that she no longer wants to sing songs to entertain people but rather bring souls to Christ.
